Moroccan Women in Science Take Centre Stage at UM6P Research Forum
Researchers, academics, and science leaders gathered in Rabat this week as the 16th edition of the Tables Rondes de l’Arbois et de la Méditerranée (TRAM) opened discussions on the contribution of Moroccan women to science, research, and innovation.
Hosted by Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in partnership with Aix-Marseille University, the event took place on 20 and 21 May at UM6P’s Rabat campus and focused on the achievements, opportunities, and professional experiences of women working across scientific disciplines.
This year’s programme highlighted “exceptional Moroccan women scientists,” examining how research careers are shaped and how scientific talent can be supported across Morocco and the wider region.
Discussions explored topics including access to research opportunities, scientific leadership, academic careers, and the role of education in supporting future generations of women in science. Participants also considered how research and innovation can contribute to economic development and social progress across Morocco, Africa, and the Mediterranean region.
The forum brought together scientists, researchers, educators, and innovators to exchange ideas on strengthening scientific collaboration and improving pathways into research-based careers.
As Morocco continues investing in higher education, research, engineering, technology, and innovation, conversations around skills development and career pathways are becoming increasingly important for students and professionals considering careers in scientific fields.
For graduates and jobseekers interested in careers linked to research, education, engineering, technology, healthcare, and scientific innovation, building industry connections and exploring opportunities remains an important step.
