Morocco Launches First-Ever Data and AI Master’s Program as Nation Accelerates Digital Transformation
The newly launched two-year program is designed to equip students with the skills needed to lead Morocco’s digital transformation.
Morocco has taken a major step forward in strengthening its technological and digital capabilities with the launch of the country’s first Data and Artificial Intelligence Master’s program. The initiative, developed by the National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (INPT) in partnership with the Al Mada Foundation, marks a defining moment for higher education and workforce development in the region.
A Milestone in Morocco’s Tech Education
The newly launched two-year program is designed to equip students with the skills needed to lead Morocco’s digital transformation. What sets it apart is its paid work-study model, which integrates academic learning with real-world corporate experience from the outset. This approach ensures graduates are not only technically proficient but also ready to contribute immediately to the evolving needs of industry.
Open to graduates holding degrees in mathematics, computer science, or physics, the program combines rigorous academic training with practical professional immersion. Students complete a common foundational year before choosing a specialized track in their second year.
Strong Industry Collaboration
Four of Morocco’s leading companies: Attijariwafa Bank, inwi, Managem, and Marjane Group have partnered with INPT to host students during designated periods of their training. These corporate collaborations will give students invaluable on-the-job experience, mentorship, and exposure to real business challenges in data and AI applications.
The Al Mada Foundation, together with its partners, fully covers the cost of the program. The teaching faculty includes both academic experts and industry practitioners, ensuring a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical insight. The curriculum also emphasizes soft skills development, preparing graduates to lead responsibly in a data-driven world.
Building Morocco’s Digital Future
The inaugural class of 30 students began their studies on 22 September 2025, following a competitive selection process that included academic evaluations, written tests, and oral interviews. Their first corporate placements are scheduled to begin in January 2026.
This initiative aligns with Morocco’s national strategy to expand its capacity in digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and advanced data management, all of which are key areas expected to drive the country’s economic growth over the next decade. By fostering collaboration between academia and industry, Morocco is positioning itself as a leading hub for technology talent in Africa and the wider MENA region.
