Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme

Morocco has signed an implementation agreement for the second phase of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP II), marking a further step in its efforts to promote sustainable industrial development.

The agreement, signed on March 16, brings together the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Swiss Government through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour signed the agreement alongside Swiss Ambassador to Morocco Valentin Zellweger and UNIDO’s representative in Morocco, Sanaa Lahlou.

GEIPP II builds on the progress of the Country Partnership Programme (CPP Morocco), a framework established between UNIDO and the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade to support industrial growth aligned with sustainability goals.

The programme is expected to support the development of eco-industrial parks by improving resource efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing the competitiveness of Moroccan industry.

Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour said:

"Today in Rabat, I signed the implementation agreement for the Global Eco- Industrial Parks Programme in Morocco , Phase II (GEIPP II) , alongside H.E. Ambassador Valentin Zellweger, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Kingdom of Morocco, and Ms. Sanaa Lahlou, UNIDO Representative in Morocco.
‏Building on the achievements of the Morocco-UNIDO Country Programme Partnership, the programme aims to transform industrial zones into Eco-Industrial Parks where companies collaborate to optimize resource use, foster industrial symbiosis, and advance circular economy practices — driving a more competitive and climate-resilient national industry.

‏The programme spans three years (2026–2028) with a budget of CHF 3 million, and will support five industrial zones selected through a rigorous and participatory process:

‏ ∙ Atlantic Free Zone — Kenitra
‏ ∙ Jorf Lasfar Industrial Zone — El Jadida
‏ ∙ Tasila 1 & 2 Industrial Zones — Agadir
‏ ∙ Ain Jouhara Industrial Complex — Khemisset
‏ ∙ Selouane Industrial Zone — Nador

‏Beyond these pilot parks, the programme seeks to establish a scalable national ecosystem for Eco-Industrial Park development, in alignment with existing public policies and in partnership with international partners including the World Bank Group and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
‏The launch of this programme marks a strategic milestone in a long-standing partnership between Morocco, Switzerland, and UNIDO, and reaffirms our shared commitment to supporting Morocco’s sustainable industrial transformation."

As Morocco continues to expand its industrial and sustainability-focused sectors, events such as Jobs Expo Casablanca, taking place on May 30, 2026, offer an opportunity for jobseekers and employers to connect directly.

The expo will bring together companies operating across key growth areas including industry, energy, infrastructure, and environmental services. For candidates, it provides a chance to explore emerging career paths linked to programmes like GEIPP II, while employers can engage with talent aligned to the country’s evolving economic priorities.

With sustainability and industrial innovation high on the national agenda, Jobs Expo Casablanca is positioned as a timely platform for those looking to be part of Morocco’s next phase of development.
